From Kongorong, west of Mount Gambier, this has an amalgam of herbs and citrus with a blazingly fresh palate that is packed with citrus and tropical fruit. Drink now. Screw cap.

Cut grass, capsicums and tropical fruit – sounds like a challenging combination but it works pretty well here. Better than the high volume Kiwi savvies.

This is rather good. Capsicum, greengage and guava, neither slipping too far into the vegetal stream of things, nor into to the talcy sweet/sour tropical spectrum. Hits the right stride.

Drinkers say, quite wrongly, that I have an aversion to dry white made from sauvignon blanc. What I really have is an aversion to the flood of sauvignon blanc, much of it from New Zealand’ s Marlborough region, besieging our bottleshops with skinny wines w made from underripe, overcropped grapes. Enter this lovely fresh, crisp dry white from South Australia’s Limestone Coast. It has the palate flavour to easily pass the second-glass test. Oh, for a bucket of fresh prawns.

“The Hesketh family has gained a serious toehold in the market for quaffing wines in a few short years. Senior winemaker Phil Lehmann shows his versatility by providing continuity with the iconic Parker reds from Coonawarra as well as crafting a raft of splendid value-for-money South Australian wines. Look for the Mezzo and Hesketh labels and take your choice. For example, you can have an intense, vibrant Hesketh Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc for $20 or this budget-priced ‘Bright Young Things’ at an everyday price: refreshingly clean, bright and easily gulpable, a tropical, fruity edge and lively, crisp acidity to finish. ”

“A great little bargain savvy that does all the right things with its tropical fruit aromas and even better with a clear note as you sip refreshing lime juice and zest as well. Proving that you can get terrific refreshment and decent varietal honesty at everyday prices, this balances the exotic with citrus fruit elements neatly enough without overpowering the palate, its nice and easy smashability perfect for summer lunching”

“A vibrant combination of crushed nettle, cut grass and tropical fruit are evident on the bouquet; the palate shows good concentration and a fleshy finish that is long and harmonious; balance is the key.”
