GAR (The Great Australian Red)

Two Varieties

Of the incredible array of table wines produced in Australia since the 1800s, it is the blend of Cabernet & Shiraz that has made what is widely accepted as the country’s greatest and has become internationally recognised as Australia’s signature red.

Two Regions

Coonawarra & McLaren Vale – If you were to choose where to grow these varieties in South Australia, then you would look no further than Penola in Southern Coonawarra for Cabernet and Blewitt Springs in McLaren Vale for Shiraz.

Two Families

The friendship between the Hardy and Hesketh families stretches back more than sixty years, and it is our prized vineyards that supply the fruit for this wine. The Abbey Vineyard in Penola and the Upper Tintara Vineyard in Blewitt Springs.

One Wine

Our Great Australian Red proudly shows that the sum of its parts is far greater than the individual components. This wine is comprised of fruit from immaculate vineyards, located in the very best sub-regions, from an outstanding vintage, made by some of Australia’s greatest winemaking talent, with the finest oak and small batch facilities at their disposal.
